Teachers who don't want to teach?!

I know that things have changed alot since I have been in elementary school but... this seems to be going a bit overboard. My five year old started kindergarten this year and the amount of work they expect them to do seems ridiculous. They have now taken nap time out (which I don't really mind) increased seat work, and they don't even have recess everyday (only the days they do not have P.E.) It's as if the teachers (and i'm not saying this about EVERY teacher) want the kids to come in and be able to write, read, sit still, have directions followed perfectly after instructing only once, and have their motor skills perfected. Should a child not follow in these steps with ease they must have ADHD and if they have ADHD they must be a "Bad" child. I understand the need to start early with these skills, but does it really need to be Harsh for kindergartners. As a parent of a child in kindergarten it sadens me to think that by the time he gets home and we need to start homework, he is so over school work it isn't even funny. His homework consists of 10 math sheets, one sheet of four words to trace, then write four sentences, and a sheet of writing the sight words.
